Suggest Treatment For Gangrene In My Foot And Leg
Question: I was in the hospital with gangrene in my foot and leg about 2 years ago. my doctor started me on pendoxifylline as well as other prescriptions. but this one medicine has been wonderful. it has been extremely helpful in solving some of the extreme pain that I suffer from a daily basis. btw, my gangrene was under control in 2 weeks and 3 1/2 months later I was discharged and didn't loose any portion of my foot or leg as other doctors before him had indicated was needed. I moved away and have been able to continue on the pendoxifylline since. then I changed primary care doctors and he has refused to continue the prescription even though I have indicated that off this medicine I am in a lot of pain and can barely walk...I mostly wheelchair bound because of advanced neuropathy and disintegrated disk disease...but have been planning to go to therapy and pain management etc. but without the pendoxifylline I wont be able to walk at all. my pleas have fallen on deaf ears and I am being treated llike I am a child. How do I handle this? how do I find a good primary care doctor who will help me stay stabilized while we try other things. I am open to trying other things, but I am very much aware what happens when I don't have access to the pendoxifylline. what is so wrong about that drug?
I have had no problems with it at all; contrary when I don't have access I suffer greatly...lots and lots of pain...mobility is greatly decreased. help!

Brief Answer:
Why not tie a compression bandage instead of taking Pentoxyphylline?
Detailed Answer:
Dear,
As per the description given, you seem to be suffering from Bergers Disease. The fact is that people with this illness have a lot of problems while walking steadily on a flat surface. There are pains in and around the arch of the foot. This makes motility very difficult indeed.
You have the option of tying a compression bandage on the affected foot. This has to be tied with professional assistance. You can undo the bandage whilst bathing, sleeping and the like. This will increase the blood supply to your foot.
This will down the pain.
Take care,
