Suggest Treatment For Gastric Problem In Pregnancy
Question: My wife is pregnant (7 months) and for last 2 days she is having gastric problem as she had taken dinner late at 10:30. she is not able to eat food properly due to this and the food is not getting digested. She also vomited once due to this problem. taking Digene is also not helping. Please advise
Brief Answer:
The oesophagealgastric sphincter is lax
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
As you said she was eating late this contributes to bigger problem. She should complete the dinner by 7pm and have a glass of milk by 9.30PM before lying down. This closes the lax sphincter. She can eat a biscuit in the mid night.
Do not take coffee, fatty food during the day. It is better to take a walk in the late evening. She can take Digene or Gelusil as and when requried.

GELUSIL is an option
Detailed Answer:
Unfortunately at this juncture there are not many options except to chew on antacids, like GELUSIL syrup. She can also take two or three chewable Digene tablets at a time.
