Suggest Treatment For General Muscle Weakness With Headache And Chills
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Blind in one eye. The other is 20/25 uncorrected. Take multiple drops for glaucoma. Under control.
Yesterday I began to feel general muscle weakness and fell twice. Severe headache overnight. Loss of bladder control. Felt better today. Headache gone by mid-morning. Slight unsteadiness, but no worse than usual.
Got chills in mid-afternoon.
This has never happened before.
Any thoughts and/or advice? Should I call my doctor? I'm on vacation 250 miles away.
Thanks.
Possible virosis (flu)...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I am sorry for the health problems you are facing.
1. General muscle weakness with headache during overnight with chills in the afternoon are signs of possible virosis (flu).
It is common to get virosis when traveling even on vacation.
2. I advise to:
- monitor your blood pressure (bp) as possible drops in bp might also cause headaches and dizziness; if you find your bp decreased, then, should reduce the dosage of linisopril/day (perhaps the half you are already taking).
- increase fluids intake (especially water)
- have your meals regularly as you are taking metformin
- monitor your blood sugar level (bsl); if you find it at lower range, then, should reduce the dosage of metformin from 1500/day to 1000/day only for the first days
- take cold medications containing paracetamol for the moment
- take vit.C to increase immunity
3. Your cholesterol levels of 220 and LDL of 100 are within normal range; however, I need to know the reference range used by your lab.
At this point, I do not think you need simvastatin as long as you are also following changes in your diet and lifestyle regimen.
4. If the symptoms won't subside in a few days, then should go to ER for immediate evaluation and treatment.
Meanwhile, do not forget to measure your bp and bsl and record the results for future reference (need to show to your doctor).
Wish fast recovery! If you have further queries, feel free to ask me!
