Question: Hi dr. I am 35 weeks pregnant and have gestational diabetes. I am taking insulin injections. I wanted to know is it safe to reuse the syringe for taking insulin injection?
Brief Answer:
Do not re use.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
It is best to use a fresh syringe and a fresh disposable needle everytime before taking any injection.
Re using the syringe also carries a risk of transmitting infections and diseases, particularly during pregnancy, when your immunity is already less.
So please use fresh disposable pieces each time.
All the best.
Please feel free to discuss further.
