Suggest Treatment For Glandular Fever
NEEDS GOOD DIET WITH ADEQUATE REST.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having glandular fever.
As such, glandular fever is an viral one, contagious and self limiting.
Your sore throat, neck lymph nodes, right sided abdominal pain (liver enlargement-common in viral fever) denotes that you have active infection and contagious to others.
In my opinion, simple smoking can also aggravate your throat pain secondary to tonsillar infection (tonsillitis, most common in glandular fever). Do not try ecstasy pill or boozing till you are free from infection.
Continue medications, as per your treating doctor. Have a nutritious diet which contains more of fluids, vitamins and minerals (to prevent dehydration and your fatigability).
Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
I am only really really tired. I have no fever. and my throat doesn't hurt. when I got my blood test done it came back as equivocal twice. what does that mean?
secondly, I am short of breath, any activity leaves me breathless. it gets difficult to breath sometimes and when I take a deep breath and exhale, there is taste like ammonia. I am worried it might be something to do with the kidney as both sides hurt...the right one more than the left.
I got my blood tests done a month and a half ago and I can attach the pic with this but they came back normal.
can it be kidney disease ? if it was, wouldn't it show up on tests done almost a month ago?
does glandular fever make you breathless, because on and off I need to take a deep breath and feels like my lungs aren't getting filled up and gives you a weird taste in mouth or should do I need to be worried? I got a lung xray and that came back normal.
post viral weekness

Hello again,
Thanks for considering my answer and for your follow up.
Answers for your queries.
1. A positive result in the Monospot test, together with symptoms of mononucleosis, are the basis for a diagnosis of infectious mononucleosis. The test will not be positive until you have been infected for about two weeks (unequivocal).
2. Post viral (glandular fever) infection- bitter taste, weakness, fatigue (decreased intake of food due to bitter taste) can cause breathlessness on exertion.
3. Most of the routine blood tests, will be normal in viral infections. As such in kidney infection burning maturation, fever with chills are common symptoms (you do not have these symptoms-no kidney involvement).
4. Do not worry, your lung symptoms are absolutely common in post viral status (x-ray chest-normal). correct your weakness with good nutritious diet and vitamin supplements.
Hope, I have answered your query.
Take care.
