Question: HELLO IAM A 50 YEAR OLD MALE WITH A GRADE 2 ASTROCYTOMER PARTIAL DEBULK . 6 MONTHS PCV FULL COURSE NO SIDE EFFECTS AND 1 YEAR EXCELLENT HEALTH APPART FROM TIREDNESS . HAD PHYSCOTIC EXPERIENCE 2 YEARS AGO BUT SURVIVED . Overall longterm survival of Grade 2 is good.

Hi Sir,

I understand your query and concern.

First of all, I appreciate you for your compliance towards the therapy so far.

Generally Grade 2 Astrocytomas will have a good survival rates.

Surgery and PCV chemotherapy prolongs the survival rates.

Complications and Symptoms occur during first 6 months to 1 year post therapy.

Since you are free of any symptoms you need not worry.

Get complete blood picture and Renal function tests for every 6 months as a part of follow up to look for any side effects of long term usage of Tegretol .

Get MRI Brain annually as a part of follow up.

The following will help to have a healthier and longer life span:

1.Avoid smoking and alcohol.
2.Monitor Blood pressure,blood sugars,lipid profile,ECG,2D Echo and complete cardiac check up for every 6months.
3.Exercise regularly and take low fat foods.
4.Avoid stress and anxiety.
5.Monitor regular drug levels to avoid toxic effects of your medication.

but just had results
of ecg diagnosed with large fourth ventrical

Hi Sir,

I understand your query and concern.

Large ventricle could either be related to chronic hypertension or dilated cardiomyopathy secondary to PCV therapy earlier used.

In all such cases of ecg diagnosed large ventricle,its very important to evaluate the functional status of the heart by a 2 dimensional trans thoracic echocardiography to assess the ejection fraction.

Drugs called Inotropes are needed only in cases where there is gross reduction of cardiac ejection fraction.
