Suggest Treatment For Hard Lump On Forehead
Question: A year and a half ago, I fell and slammed my forehead on the asphalt creating an open wound and a bump. I went to the ER and was told there was no serious damage. Now, I still have a hard lump on my forehead where I hit it and would like advice as to what could be the cause, what kind of doctor I could see to diagnose the problem - perhaps a plastic surgeon - and what treatment options are available.

Hello
Thanks for the query.
Probably you have developed keloid.
It's collection of fibrous tissue at the site of injury.
Can you please upload a photograph of the involved area.
This will help me in giving a closer diagnosis.
There is an option to upload photographs on right side of query page you can utilise it.
You can also mail me photograph on YYYY@YYYY with subject as ATTN Dr Rahul Kumar.

Thank you for your response. I have emailed you two pictures of the lump on my forehead. I am wearing makeup in the photos but there is little to no discoloration at the site of the lump. If anything the lump can appear slightly more pink than the surrounding skin. The lump feels quite firm, almost like bone or muscle. I have a dermatology appointment tomorrow and I am wondering if it makes sense to keep that appointment given that the doctor will only make a diagnosis based on seeing, feeling and if necessary taking a biopsy of the lump. The office does not offer any kind of imaging.
Brief Answer:
Get X ray and ultrasonography done
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the photographs.
There is just a mild redness and a slight swelling is obvious.
There might be a mild bony injury or soft tissue damage.
There is no use going to a dermatologist at this point.
I advice you to get an x ray and ultrasonography of the involved area done.
This will help in finding out the exact cause of the swelling and based on that treatment can be done.
Let me know the reports.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.
