Suggest Treatment For Headache And Sore Throat While On Dicloxacillin

Question: I have a sinus infection with greenish mucous coming out. Also have had a slight headache for
several days which I rarely have. No fever but felt badly for a week now. I have congestion too & have
been taking sudafed & Allegra. At first I had a sore throat which has been gone 5-6 days now.
I have a full packet of Dicloxacillin, 250 mg, 20 caps which were prescribed for a possible skin infection on vacation in August. May I take these for my sinus infection?
I am a 70 year old healthy female, overweight.

Brief Answer:
Sinusitis
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome
I appreciate your concern
I would advise against starting the antibiotics without concrete evidence. X ray PNS can be advised to look for opacification of sinuses involved. The sinuses need to be examined by your GP or an ENT doctor. The nasal decongestants and antihistamines should be continued. The preferred empirically therapy with antibiotics for such an infection would be amoxicillin clavulanate or quinolone such as levofloxacin.
