Suggest Treatment For Headache, Running Nose, Throat Discomfort And Sneezing
Question: Hi,
I have headache, running nose, throat uncomfort, continuous sneezing and bit giddiness from last 2 days, not able to work. I was out of station for a week may be that caused the problem. is this a flue?.
Kindly help me in this regard.

Hello XXXX,
Your have flu like symptoms headache, running nose, sore throat, continuous sneezing and giddiness all these symptoms suggest upper respiratory tract infection.
History of sinus surgery is noted.
If I were your treating doctor I would suggest you :
- Antihistamines like levocetrizine 5 mg once a day before bed for 3 days.
- Paracetamol 650 mg (Dolo) twice a day after food.
-Nasal decongestants like Nasoclear nasal saline drops as many as times in a day.
-Steam inhalation twice a day.
-Salt water gargles twice a day.
-Throat lozenges like strepsils.
If you will not feel after 3 days of medication then I suggest you visit near by your doctor to start antibiotics like Azithromycin 500 mg once a day for 3 days.
