What Causes Repeated Sinus Infections After Undergoing Sinus Surgery?
Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... I had sinus surgery in september and since then have had 2 sinus infections caused by allergies. I was able to clear them without antibiotics thru sinus rinse and zyrtec-d. But am wondering if my daily sinus rinse could be the cause? Or have any negative side effects?
Repeated sinus problems like allergy, infection can occur as the sinuses remain where they were, only the disease is removed in sinus surgery. Allergies remain for a long time and may remain life-long hence one has to take antihistamine, topical and oral steroids if you are not a diabetic. One has to confirm the exact cause of recurrence of problems.
Consult your ENT surgeon and insist for fresh investigations of blood, particularly IgE levels, CT scan of sinuses, Nasal and sinus endoscopy. Further management will depend upon the the findings of all above things. You have also have to identify the factors, foods, fluids that instigate and enhance your symptoms and avoid or stop altogether to have minimal or no symptoms. Sinuses rinses should be done as per the ENT Surgeon's advise alone.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
