Suggest Treatment For Heavy Dandruff Along With Hair Fall
Question: Hi,
I am XXXXXXX XXXX
Problems:
1) Heavy Dandruff, scalping.
2) Hair fall, thinning, lose roots. I feel like my hair is going to fall off anytime, I keep on moving my hands through my hair, to find if my hairs are falling off.
Treatments taken:
1) Protar K/8X shampoo/Nizoral(2%).
2) Regaine 5%.
Although it worked well for 2-3 months, I am facing the same problems again.
Please provide alternate treatments.

Hi
Although your treatment was according to the standards they did not bring any respite. Your doctors should have already told you that the treatment should be over 6 months.
Dandruff is nothing but dead cells going off the scalp. It is in the form of scales and powder and very severe for some. These few people have to use the antidandruff shampoos with limited benefit for at least 6 months on alternate days. They can rotate the specific ingredients in them. E.g Alternate use of 8x and Protar. Later 8x and nizoral. You may also use Hydrocortisone lotion along with these which also assist the antidandruff shampoos action.
If these do not help after 6 months you can get scalp testing to figure out if there is any other reason.
The hair fall is common if you pull the hair. Do not compare with others as every person is different in genetics. If there is male pattern baldness in your family nothing can stop it. You should maintain good hair hygiene. You cannot get a quick fix for every problem and sometimes common problems like dandruff.
You better try what I suggest. Ask your doctor to add Hydrocortisone lotion as well along with above treatment. Ask your doctor about scalp testing. In fact you can meet a specialist trichologist in your city. They have better understanding about these problems.

Appreciate your quick follow-up. The next appointment with my doctor is in the month of August. In the meanwhile, what medicines can I take to not lose much hair till the time my doctor subscribes something.
My scalp feels a bit itchy sometimes.
