Question: I had a hemorrhagic cyst diagnosed today (2 cm) on my ovary and said that it burst but was still there. How long will it take to go away do you think and how can I help it to go away faster?

Brief Answer:
It will totally resolve in 2-3 months.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing to us about it.

Rupture Hemorrhagic cyst of 2cm in size usually is a self limiting condition and do not require surgery as in your example. The pain associated with it will decrease in a few days to 2-3 weeks.

You can apply heating pad, and warm water bag on your lower abdomen to decrease pain. You can take a warm water bath.

As you are already taking pain killer they may lessen your pain.

You should avoid strenuous activity and walking as it may increase pain, do rest as much as possible.

You can get an antibiotic after consulting your physician.

The cyst might take 2-3 months to resolve properly. If needed you may repeat the scan thereafter to confirm resolution.

If your pain persists after it and if it may increase in the intensity you should consult your treating physician for the same.

Hope I have answered your query if you have further questions I will be happy to assist you.

Good luck
