Posted on Wed, 8 Oct 2014
Question: I discoverd since 6 months that i have 11 mm hepatic hemangioma in the right lobe , then my dr told me to do Triphasec CT scan to double check which i also did & it showed the same diagnosing . Then i did 2 ultrasounds one since 3 months & the last one was yesterday as a follow up & it was typically the same report as i did the first one since 6 months later . Is that enough ?
Pls note that sometimes i feel a mild pain in my right upper abdomen but my doctor told me it is maybe a pinched nerve or muscle issue csuse your abdomen ultrasound is good & also my gallbladder is good thanks God .

Brief Answer:
Benign pathology, not related to pain you feel

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,

I have gone through your medical history.

From what you are describing, all your examinations finalized "hepatic hemangioma in the right lobe".

First, I need to know if alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) was within normal range?

If all your exams, and ultrasounds and if AFP was normal too, then, hepatic hemangioma is confirmed.

It is a benign pathology and is not related to your symptoms (pain you feel). Most probably, the causes to your pain are the intestinal spasms, especially, if you were having problems with bowel movements (constipation).

Hope it answered to your queries!

Brief Answer:
Nothing serious, repeat abdominal echo after 1 year

Detailed Answer:
Hi back XXXX,

Thank you for providing more of your medical data.

I am happy to know that AFP was normal, and ct-scan was normal. This is strongly suggestive for hemangioma.

It is nothing serious. Can repeat follow up abdominal ultrasound after 1 year to see if any changes.

Do not forget to conduct a healthy lifestyle and diet regimen.

All the best!

What do you mean with "any changes" ?
Is there any doubt that it is another thing & not hemangioma ?

Brief Answer:
I want to make sure it will remain small...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

With changes, I mean, changes in size of hemangioma. In other words, there are sometimes, when hemangiomas can get bigger. It was great that it did not increase in size within the last 6 months. It is advised to keep following up for at least 1 year after hemangioma was first noted. If no changes in size, then, can run another follow up in 2 years or more.

In your case, there is a small (tiny) hemangioma noted. I want to make sure it will remain small, that's why I asked to run another abdominal ultrasound after 1 year.

The rest is fine!
