Suggest Treatment For Hiatal Hernia And Acid Reflux While On Nexium

I'm always reparerede to look out for my XXXXXXX and maybe Im just too afraid of any disease.

That's my health problems and I manage them as best as I can. I also have had CT, endoscopy, manometry and x-tray to diagnose my reflux problems. 1cm hiatal hernia and relaxed XXXXXXX muscle. I don't smoke or drink. I have had reflux terapy for 6 years
But my mother is very ill because of Crohn's disease and have had it for many years. I have heard about this can run in family. she has been a smoker for 30 years.
I don't wanna be afraid of disease everyday;
can you tell me ? , do I need to be afraid of that I will get this crohn's disease because my mother has it, or does my bowel, reflux problems have anything to do with this ?

Hi
THanks for writing in
It is good you are health aware but do not be scared of anything
Here are few tips which will help you with GERD and hiatus hernia along with the medications that you are taking :
GERD
1] Avoid spicy, fermented meals
2] Do not have heavy meals
3] Avoid smoking and alcohol
4] Wear loose clothes
5] Do not stoop
6] Do not lift heavy weights
7] Raise the head end of your bed
8] If Obese lose weight
9] If under stress - Manage stress levels by meditation and exercise
Yes your information is right Crohn's disease is known to have a genetic etiology and the risk to siblings is higher compared to others
Apart from the fact that the disease is twice more prevalant in smokers than non smokers
Hope this helps
Do write back in case of concern

I don't need to worry about getting Crohn's just because my mom have it ?
best regards XXXXXXX Hanusarson
Be alert instead of worrying
Detailed Answer:
Hi
THanks for your followup
I would say you need not worry as worry will increase the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome but cannot assure you will not have crohn's disease because of it's genetic etiology
Hope this clears your doubts
Wishing you a healthy life ahead
