Suggest Treatment For High BP, Cough And Cold

Avoid oral decongestant(containg phenyephrine or pseudoephedrine)
Detailed Answer:
Hi,thank you for posting your query on Health Care Magic.
I understand your concern that as you are suffering from hypertension, which medication can be taken for cough and cold.
In case of hypertension, you should avoid all the over the counter medication which contains Oral decongestant (like phenylephrine or Pseudoephedrine) as it leads to increase in blood pressure.
You can take following medications :
Oral antihistaminic(like Cetrizine),
Saline nasal spray- it helps to maintain moisture in the nose and clear mucus and dust or other irritating particles from your nose,
Cough expectorant (like containing Ambroxol) if you are suffering from productive cough .
Also do steam inhalation. Drink plenty of fluids(warm)- as it helps in breaking of collected mucus due to cold.
Avoid dust, smoke and other pollutants. Avoid cold and very sweet food as they increase the mucus production. Drinking hot tea with lemon, ginger and honey will also give you relief.
Hope this answers your question.I would be happy to answer if you have any
follow-up questions.
Get well soon.

Information regarding Corricidin HBP
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thank you for your reply.
I also wanted to give you information about the tablet Corricidin HBP which you have tried. It contains Chlorpheniramine and Dextromethorphan.
Chlorpheniramine - helps to alleviate Cold symptoms. But it may cause sedation in few people as compared to newer generation antihistaminic medicine like Levocetirizine.
Dextromethorphan - is helpful in case of a dry, irritating cough. But Dextromethorpan is to be avoided if you are taking tablet fluoxetine.
So, it would be better to avoid this medicine.
Wishing you a faster recovery.
