Suggest Treatment For High Cholesterol Levels And Fatty Liver
I am a woman, 32, 5'4 and 200 pounds. After a recent doctors physical and subsiquent blood work, ive been scared straight and have totally changed my eatings habits.
My doctor did a liver functioning test and everything was normal except my ALT which was 46 (ALT 24). My cholesterol was also high at 256. My doctor told me that I have fatty liver and advised me to change my diet and exercise habits before I see him again in 3 months.
I have done so and have omitted butter, oils (aside from olive oil), dairy, red meat, pork, alcohol, sugar, starches and carbs from breads or grains. Ive been eating fruits, veg, salmon, shrimp, chicken and nuts and seeds. The change in diet is going fine.
Today however, after a bowle movement, I noticed a few droplets of oil floating in the toilet along with some clear foam. This is actually the second time this has happened, the first time being about 3 months ago.
Im concerned because when I google my symtoms pancreatitus and pancreatic cancer keep coming up. My doctor ordered a stool test whoch ill do- but there is clearly oil in the toilet.
I ate a shrimp and cashews before the offending bowel movement occured.
I have no other symtoms, no pain or discomfort.
I am newly in prozac 20mg and minocyline (for acne) 100mg twice daily, ive also started taking over the counter milk thistle.
What could be going on? Would pancreatitus or pancreatic cancer effect my sugar tests or liver tests? Could it be the extra cashews in my diet? My doctor checked me for celiac and my test came out normal. Im just freaking right out.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I've note all your details.
I appreciate your concern.
Presence of fat in feces is termed as Steatorrhea. Impaired digestion or absorption can result in fatty stools. Excessive intake of fat in diet can also cause some remains of fat in stool. Pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer will cause gross increase in level of enzymes like amylase and lipase and will effect LFT grossly. Apart from that clinical presentation of patient is quite different in pancreatitis or cancer.
Yes very likely it can be because of extra cashew in your diet.
Although not asked, yet my suggestion is go for the stool routine microscopy test, if it's normal, then don't worry everything is fine.
However, if you want full mental satisfaction, then please go for a CT-scan of abdomen (after consulting your gastroenterologist), if its normal it can't be cancer or pancreatitis (it's Not required but for your mental satisfaction).
Thanks
