would be best to find the cause
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
Urticaria or hives that occur for at least 6 weeks is called chronic urticaria. If it is less than this time, called acute urticaria
It would be best, if possible to find the cause. In some cases , this may be difficult.
Causes include: (1) reaction to medication- some blood pressure meds, aspirin, NSAIDS (cataflam, ibuprofen, naproxen)
(2) reaction to foods
There are allergy tests that can be suggested by your doctor to determine if related to medications or foods
(3)insect stings
(4) conditions such as lupus, rheumatoid, thyroid disease
(5)there are also be physical causes as well. Some persons reaction to: (a) stroking of the skin (dermatographism),
(b) cold (called cold urticaria),
(c)water (aquagenic urticaria),
(d)sun (solar urticaria),
(e) cholinergic urticaria (heat, stress, exercise)
If the hives / urticaria continues, you may want to consider asking your doctor for referral to a allergist, if possible to find the cause.
This would involve physical examination and blood tests.
If this is not an option, you can continue to use the fexofenadine for the time that you need it
I hope this helps , feel free to ask any other questions
