Question: Hi my name is XXXXXXX I had a radical Hysterectomy, and removal of Leiomyosarcoma in my Right Pelvic area.
I am now approaching my 6th and final cycle of chemo. I have very severe hot flashes that start only in the day, now they are continuing day and night, night flashes make me very irritable, I am now suffering from sleep deprivation. I have tried Wild Yam Root capsules.. not helping. Any advice?
Brief Answer:
menopausal symptoms, lifestyle changes advised
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Hot flashes are common after radical hysterectomy as ovaries are removed so it is similar to symptoms experienced after menopause.
My recommendations are as follows:
- You should drink a lot of water and avoid hot and humid climates.
- Lessen your intake of caffeine and eat lots of salads and fruits.
- Include nuts especially walnuts in your daily diet and increase intake of soy proteins.
- Sleep deprivation is also a part of this spectrum only.
In case these lifestyle changes don't work then you should visit a gynecologist who will prescribe you hormone replacement therapy after proper pelvic and breast examination.
Wish you the best of health and may god bless you.
