Question : I have went to the doctor about indigestion and my back pain, I've also lost weight recently etc. he has taken blood tests and I have an appointment set up with a gastroenterologist, and he said I should eat lighter meals and drink protein shakes until then.But my back pain has been getting persistent and strong. Directly under my left shoulder blade. Is this an emergency or am I safe to wait until my gastro appointment? I'm worried of gastric cancer or other serious illnesses

I read your question and i understand your concern. Gastric discomfort , back pain and pain involving shoulder tips is likely a local gastric issues like gastritis. Not every referring pain is cancer and age of 19 is too young for that.

Your doctor is suspecting gastritis as well that is why he recommended small frequent meals. Avoid spices, take more fluids, avoid beverages, soda, stimulants, smoking, processed and canned foods, chocolates etc.

No worries, supportive care and wait till appointment will help. One thing i can assure you , its not cancer.
