Suggest Treatment For Infected Hair Follicles In The Groin Area
Question: I have a condition with my groin area that just came about the other day. It's right on the left crease of my thigh/groin area. It is about the size of a finger tip and it the skin is irritated. I'm significantly overweight and have been doing detox sauna sessions these past few days. The best way I can describe it is it feels like an ingrown hair.
Brief Answer:
Folliculitis with ingrown hair
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
It looks like hair follicle infection and inflammation. It may be because of ingrown hair as you described. You need to be careful not to burst it. You need a course of oral antibiotics typically for 5 days like Amoxycillin and over the counter pain killer. Generally Staph is the organism for causing such bulbs.
You should avoid dabbing alcohol on to it. That irritates and cause more problem. You can alternatively use Hot pads (fomentation) with cotton cloth on it thrice a day. The pain would definitely help and so is the redness.
Let me know if you have concerns.
