Question: Dear Doctor, We have been trying to conceive for the past 10 months. My age is 28 and husband is 34 years old. I was prescribed Clomid from 4th month to 7th month. All failed. He had a low count for which he took tab and it turned very normal. Later went on IUI in the 8th month which was also not a success. This month the doctor prescribed us to go for SSG. Which showed that the two fallopian tubes were blocked in the distal end. But still they wanted to go for diagnostic laparoscopy for confirmation. Kindly answer my following queries: 1. Whether we are on the right track? If so, whether HSG is better or diag lap is better? 2. I have had very heavy flow of white discharge with severe itching when i was in my 5th standard. Since it was 20 years ago none of us could remember what the doctor told. Whether this might be a reason for this? 3. What could the options for block diagnosis and if so, what might be the right treatment for block removal?

Brief Answer: options discussed for further investigations Detailed Answer: Hello Thank you for writing in to health care magic The SSG is a simple test which can be done for testing the fallopian tubes. 1. But according to your history as they feel the tubes can be block then the best option in Laproscopy with XXXXXXX test. HSG will not the best option in your case. 2. The white discharge can be taken and sent for testing to look for any specific infection which might lead to profuse discharge and itching 3. The treatment for the block will depend on the findings on laproscopy such as where the block is? / status of the tube - if its swollen and filled with fluid? / any other problems in the pelvis around the uterus such as endometriosis or any adhesions. It will be best for you to discuss with your consultant the procedure and plan treatment Hope to have answered your query Dr Nandita Thakkar

Dear Doctor, Thank you your quicker and clear answer. Everybody is telling this is too early for me to go and get checked for pregnancy related aspects before getting pregnant. We got married ten months ago and the same is our time trying to conceive. Is this too early? Even though am prepared for Diag. Lap, everybody telling too early makes me get confused. Since you have a long experience what in your opinion regarding our decision of these earlier checkups and procedures? Thanks XXXXXXX
