Suggest Treatment For Inflamed Sebaceous Cyst On Neck
Question: My boy friend went to the doctor today for what we thought was a swollen cyst on back of neck hairline. Doctor as reccomended surgery asap, now waiting for date and time. I am bit concerned, well concerned. He is a Vet suffering from PD, and a frontal, slow growing brain meningioma. Need to know what to expect. Any thoughts?
Brief Answer:
No worry for an inflammed sebaceous cyst
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
what you've described is likely an inflammed sebaceous cyst. These cysts cause trouble only when they get infected or inflammed. The cyst has to be removed along with its wall. Any remaining cyst parts may result in recurrence.
The procedure is very simple but may cause some discomfort because local anesthetics cannot anesthetize the whole area. Careful approach is required by the surgeon because of that.
Full recovery is expected. Parkinson's disease (if that's what you meant with PD) and meningiomas have nothing to do with the cyst.
I hope I've helped!
Kind Regards!
