Suggest Treatment For Inflammation And Pain In Hydrocele
Question: I have a hydrocele that has become quite large quite quickly. I have already had one surgery to fix two one on each side. The left one opened again soon after but remained very small until recently. Almost tennis ball size now. Things feel different the last few days almost like I can feel it filling. Should I go to ER?

Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
If you have no fever, pain, redness of scrotum, no bowels problems like gas and stool obstruction (possibility of inguinal hernia), no need to go to ER.
Hydrocele can get really large but apart from discomfort, it does not give any other problems.
To make sure it contains clear fluid, please put a flashlight into the scrotum and see if it passes the light. If it does, hydrocele it is. If it does not, and there is fever and pain, it may contain blood for example. In such case, ER visit is advisable.
And for sure you need to see urologist in next few days.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
