Suggest Treatment For Injury To Elbow
![default](/r/images/default.png)
My wife has apparently injured her elbow. It is swelling and seems to be retaining a great deal of fluid. What should we do?
She should get x ray
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case. In her age group bones are very brittle and chances of fracture are high even with trivial trama. As you are saying that swelling in also increasing so I would recommend you following.
1.Get x ray of the elbow as soon as possible.
2. Ice is good but do not massage elbow as it can cause stiffness in future. Do not apply very tight sling.
3. If there is hairline fracture inx ray than she might need splinting.
4. Tablet Brufen can be given for pain.
5. Do not move elbow to check movement as it can cause soft tissue damage. You need to take her ER as soon as possible.
I hope this answer will be helpful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks
