I have no health issues , am a 62 yr old active male, work out w/ weights cardio 5x week, take 10-15 mg altace daily for high bp( was 140/90, now 120/80. opthamlomight wrote my doc ( away) re possible carotid evaluation. am I in any danger? Mild Swelling still persisting in eustachian tubes.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.
I am Dr Rakesh Sharma answering your query.
I can understand your concern.
I have gone through the details provided .
It seems your fullness of ears seems to be because of mild inflammation still present in your eustachian tubes.
Though it may not cause visual hallucination but it may cause head ache , and in turn may cause mild hallucination.
If I were your treating doctor,I would have prescribed you antibiotics for another 3 to 5 days with anti inflammatory like ibuprofen.
There is absolutely nothing to worry about carotid evaluation.
You are not in any danger.
It is a very minor diagnostic procedure and it may be useful to rule out any abnormality that can trouble you in future.
Hope I have answered your query.
If any thing else you are welcome.
Good luck.
thank you for your reply.
I went for a follow up a week lter with the ent. there was no infection present. I have a transient soreness, sensation on the side of my neck. seems like a very low grade burning some time. I can feel in the side of my neck when I swallow.
I have had issues with neck straining from my working out with weights. this sensation is making we worry about some issue with my arteries, however I believe have read that pain etc is not a symptom of an artery issue. any clarification?
Symptoms May be muscular.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
As you have been cleared by ENT for infection then Your sensation in neck may not be because of eustachian tube.
You have read correctly, that the arteries do not cause any symptom like pain, it may be muscular instead.
The low grade burning is also not symptom of artery, but may be of muscular strain.
Over all I feel that all your issues are muscular in nature, and your carotid study is also going to be normal.Good luck.

May be nerve , but not vascular.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again.
There are remote chances of nerve involvement but not arterial in my opinion.
There is no chance of vascular involvement.
