Suggest Treatment For Inversion Of Nipple
Question: I have been referred to a breast clinic for examination, I have noticed over the last year or so that one of my nipples have become inverted. Didn't take much notice of it until I started getting blemishes on my breast as well and kind of thought it a bit weird. I have always suffered with cysts under the same arm and my doctor used to just burst them for me if they got infected. How long should I be waiting for an appointment at the breast clinic (Limerick) went to my GP last week 14/07/15. Would this be considered a priority at the breast clinic.

Inversion of a previously normal nipple needs evaluation. The cysts are probably unrelated but the blemishes are also significant.
We need to do a proper clinical examination and then direct the tests. Most probably you will need mammogram and ultrasound.
I think you should try to get the appointment as early as possible. This will be considered priority for the clinic as well.

Well I went for my apt in the breast clinic what the consultant told me..
The blemishes as I called then she said they were spots and did I scratch them. I have no itch what so ever on them and they are not long on my breast that is the main reason I went to my G.P in the first place as I thought it was weird to suddenly get marks on my breast. In relation to my inverted nipple she said this was caused by smoking. She was a kind of a doctor that I was afraid of when she mentioned smoking I just felt she did not like me because I smoke. I'm quite a shy person and I am still worried because of the information I am reading on the internet re inverted nipples.
She is sending me for a mammogram and ultrasound have to wait again for that apt in a couple of weeks, she did say to me because my nipple was inverted for over a year I should by now have a lump if it was anything to worry about.
If she thinks my inverted nipple is caused by smoking WHY is she still sending me for mammogram & ultrasound.
Id appreciate your opinion.

I also agree that if nipple is inverted for over a year with otherwise normal breast examination then there is nothing to worry.
Probably she is getting the tests to just be on the safe side and not to miss anything. I think the results will be normal.
