Please let me know your symptoms so I can advise what you can use.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for using Healthcaremagic to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.
IBS is treated depending on the symptoms patients have.
If you have diarrhea, the disrrhea is treated. IF you have constipation, or abdominal pain then are used medicines to treat those.
Kindly let me know your symptoms and I will be happy to advise accordingly on what you can use over the counter in the local pharmacy.
Looking forward to your follow up question.

My symptoms are abdominal bloating, diarrhea and abdominal cramping and a slight headache.
Brief Answer:
Some practical advises.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for the follow-up question.
Here are some of my suggestions:
- For diarrhea, if you have it more than 6 times/day: loperamide (Imodium) 4 mg initially (then 2 mg after each unformed stool up to 12-16 mg/day).
-eat regularly and take the time to eat
- drink ≥ 8 cups of fluid daily, especially water or other noncaffeinated drinks and limit tea and coffee to ≤ 3 cups daily
- reduce consumption of alcoholic and carbonated beverages
- limit fresh fruit intake to < 240 g daily
- For your gas and bloating may find it helpful to incorporate oats and linseeds (up to 1 tablespoon per day) in your diet
- Eat a diet rich in Banana-Rice-Apple-Toast. Avoid milk because it makes diarrhea worse.
Incorporate soluble fibers like ispaghula (psyllium) into your diet because will improve your bowel movement in the long term.
- Consider starting a Probiotic if you are not using one, so you will have rare flareups.
Hope this is helpful.
Let me know if you have other questions or concerns.
