Brief Answer:
part of the body's inflammatory response

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The little bumps that you notice are due to localized (restricted to a particular area) swelling.

Localized swelling in an area where a person is itching is part of the body's normal inflammatory response.

The itching occurs due to insect stings or if the skin comes into contact with something that irritates it- ---- this itching is part of the body's inflammatory reaction to whatever has occurred------ the localized swelling is also part of this inflammatory reaction.

The greater the itching, the more the swelling (bump) that would be seen.

The use of a mild over the counter steroid cream such as hydrocortisone or an oral antihistamine such as benadryl would help to reduce both the itching and the bump seen.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
