Question: I received a Kenolog 40 injection to disolve a 1 1/2 inch lump in my leg. I now have severe discoloration around the area about 5 inches long and 3 inches wide.. There no itching, just redness. I have this for about 5 months. Is this discoloration permanent?

Brief Answer:
may not be permanent

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Changes in the skin can occur as a side effect of the medication or a reaction to trauma (in this case , the injection itself would be considered a form of trauma)

It can take months to years for improvement to occur as a result of remodeling of skin in the affected area. In many cases, though improvement may occur , the skin may not completely return to its original form whereas others may experience complete resolution.

Unfortunately it is not possible to predict which category you would be able to fall into though in your case since the trauma was mild , it is more likely temporary.

The use of cocoa butter creams, creams with vitamin e or mild skin lightening creams may help.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
