Suggest Treatment For Itching In Eye

Is there any use starting any medicines or doing any other immediate treatment to stop it or is it too late? I'm a magazine editor and one eye malfunctioning will be too difficult for me. Anything other than the usual hygenic suggestions to prevent my son? A vitamin or precautious treatment?
(I'm wearing contact lenses)
Thanks in advance
Mel.
Antibiotic eye drops needs to be used.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic.
I am Dr. Dadapeer K, an ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.
I reviewed your history. It seems from the history that your husband is diagnosed with viral conjunctivitis and he is on treatment for the same.
It is very contagious disease and spreads with close contact.
The symptoms of itching, yellow discharge in you suggests infective conjunctivitis in you also. Most of the viral conjunctivitis are self limiting and may take 1-2 weeks for complete symptomatic relief depending on the severity.
The treatment is mainly by the use of antibiotic eye drops to prevent secondary infection, which occurs in almost all the cases.
Hence I advice you to start using antibiotic eye drops to prevent secondary infection.
You need to avoid the use of contact lenses till the symptoms resolve.
I usually prefer to use broad spectrum antibiotic eye drops like Moxifloxacin eye drops.
To prevent the spread of infection to your son I advice you to use antibiotic eye drops 1-3 times per day along with the precautionary measures like avoiding close contact with infected person, avoiding the use of bed sheets, bed spreads, towels, kerchief... used by the infected persons.
Hope this answers your questions and it is helpful to you.
Do write back to me for further questions.
Thank you
With regards
