Question: Hi Doctor, I'm having itching on my thigh folds and anal opening. Few months back I got severe itching on thigh folds and consulted dermatologist..and prescribed Whitefield's ointment twice daily for one month. Lots of round like and map like shapes on skin is gone but I still have mild itching there almost every day..and gets severe rarely. And dark spots all over skin there. How to stop itching on thigh folds completely? And how to remove those map like dark spots? Now I also have itching on anal opening. It is not severe always. Gets really itchy usually before bowl movement. I've anal itching for a month now. This is very embarrassing. How to stop itching on anus opening?

Hi,

Welcome to HCM...

After reading the history, I feel that most probably you may be having candidal intertrigo. It is a fungal infection caused by Candida albicans. In your case,inner thighs,inguinal and anal areas are involved. It may be exacerbated by soap bath,perspiration and excessive bathing. Blood tests should be done to rule out,DM,HIV,internal diseases ..etc. Kindly consult the dermatologist for the perfect diagnosis.

I would suggest...

- antihistaminics like tab.levocetirizine 5 mg daily
- anti fungal cream for local application
- antibiotic if infection is suspected
- apply antibiotic cream with anti fungal cream like sisomycine and clotrimazole cream
- Sitz bath in tub water mixed with few drops of dettol
- keep the area dry
- improve hygiene and immunity
- take treatment of other disease if found
