Suggest Treatment For Itchy Insect Bite On Legs And Arms
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: hi, I have over 70 bites on my legs and arms. I was in XXXXXXX over the weekend and the bites started appearing Saturday morning. I thought they were mosquito bites but I am going on 7 days now and they are still itching really bad. I have tried Benadryl, ice, itching spray, hydrocortisone cream and calamine lotion. Im thinking maybe they aren't mosquito bites? I had the chicken pox when I was 5 (severe) and have had Shingles 3 times. At 11, 35 and recently at 44 last week it just went away. Didn't want to waste my time and the doctors time at urgent care if I just need to wait a few more days for the itching to stop.

Brief Answer:
It can be cured but needs antibiotics
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back,
I have seen the pictures and have read your history and description closely,
Before coming to possibilities and methods to cure them I will like to assure you that they can be easily cured in a couple of days or three, you don't have to panic.
All your data point's towards one thing>> Infection .
These are infected lesions they might have developed in two ways.
1) Bug bites later getting infected.
2) Independent skin infective lesions.
At the moment it does not matter how they developed what matters is how we they have to be cured.
SUGGESTIONS:
1) Use some other antihistamine like citerizine 10mg at night.
2) Don't use hydrocorrtisone cream at these lesions.
3) I will also ask my patients to use an antibiotic cream like polyfax because this can cure infections not anti-inflammatory cream like hydrocortisone.
4) Oral Augmentin in addition to polyfax showed great result with my patients.
I would suggest you meet your doctor and get antibiotic cream prescribed till then use anti histamin and tylenol for anti-inflammatory action but in my opinion antibiotic cream is really required.
Pyodine can help too.
This can be cured easily with oral and topical antibiotics.
I Hope this answers your question, if your have more queries feel free to ask, otherwise close the discussion and rate it. Wish you the best of health.

Dr.Muhammad Ahmad.
