Brief Answer:
Extra Corporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) is best mode of treatment .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query , based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have been detected to have a stone of a size of 10.5 mm in your left kidney .

The best option of treatment for you is Extra Corporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy(ESWL).

This is a simple procedure done as a out door procedure and does not require hospitalization , nor anesthesia where stone is fragmented in small pieces which subsequently pass out through urine.

You may require to undergo 2-3 sitting at one week interval .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions , I shall be happy to help you .

Thanks and Regards.

Answered by Dr. Dr. P. T. Patil (6 hours later)
Brief Answer:
You need Endoscopic Surgery for fragmentation of stone .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up and making precise statement regarding the site of stone which is located to be in Ureter and not in the kidney .

The only treatment option for the stone in ureter is endoscopic fragmentation of stone by a procedure called Uretero Reno Scopy (URS) and putting a stent in in the ureter to help to pass the fragments without any pain .

Get it done at earliest before it damages your kidney .

Thanks and Regards.

Answered by Dr. Dr. P. T. Patil (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
Your Left kidney is already damage due to stone in the Ureter .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up .

Your ultrasound Scan reveals grossly damaged kidney due to long standing impacted stone in the left ureter with multiple secondary stones in kidney .

In a given situation and with the report of Scan I would suggest you to do following investigations to assess the function of left kidney .
1) DTPA scan or IVP
2) Renal Function tests .

Further modality of treatment will depend upon the results of these tests.

Thanks and Regards.
