Suggest Treatment For Knot On The Anal Opening

default
Posted on Thu, 4 Dec 2014
Question: I have a knot appx 1\2-3\4" on my anal opening. It is a little discomforting when trying to sit in particular but not painful. I am not constipated and nothing has really changed irregularly. It doesn't really have a bruising color or anything other than normal skin tone to it but it is noticeable when looking in the mirror. It is hard and not soft at all. It has been there for 2-3 days now and I am out of town working so it will be another week before I get home and can get to the doctor. I was wondering if this would be something that I should take off work for where im at or if it was nothing to worry about. I have not tried pinching or treating it with anything I have left it alone hoping it would resolve itself.

Brief Answer:
It is a thrombosed hemorrhoids!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

This is a hemorrhoid that has a blood clot within. There is no emergency in taking off work to get this addressed as long as you can put up with the pains. I will recommend that you take pain medications like Ibuprofen and Tylenol to help relieve the pains. This would slowly shrink all by itself within a week.
.
How are your bowel movements? Any constipation? I encourage you to eat healthy, fruits, vegetables and increased fiber, drink enough water and exercise regularly. Avoid sitting for long periods in the toilets and standing up when it is really not necessary.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Actually the last 2 days now have been constipated. What is the common cause of these and is there any future prevention?

Good bowel habits would help!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

The best way out is to adopt healthy bowel habits. This consist in avoiding constipation/.diarrhea, eating enough fruits and vegetables, avoid straining excessively during bowel movements, etc. This is often associated with venous blood return problems.
