Suggest Treatment For Large Bruise On Foot Post Injury
I put my bag on a shelf today and it gave way with the heavy shelves landing on my left toe and right foot.
At first, there wasn't that much pain but that increased. There wasn't much of a bruise but I noticed after walking with shoes the bruise increased a lot and then it has continued to increase and spread in size (internal flow of blood?)
I have included photos 3 hours and 7 hours after the incident. Is there still internal bleeding and how could I speed healing? As there is pain, could the bone or nail be damaged (it appears slightly damaged in the photos). Will there be any effect on nail growth?
Thankyou.
Pictures look to be showing mild bruise only.

Hi
Thanks for your query and nice chronological pictures for me to see and understand nicely. Also read the history you have given : Medical History, Current Medications and Known allergies.
My opinion:
Since the pictures show Ecchymosis (bruise) but not much of edema, the fracture may not be there. Usually fracture is associated with too much of swelling (edema) pain and hematoma. Yet only X-ray can ascertain about the fracture , so please get one
X-ray done.
The nail-growth should not be a problem, as the nail bed at the moment looks fine except for a very small subungal hematoma, which will be reabsorbed by the body and if there is no delayed response of increase in hematoma or necrosis, there may not be a problem.
Nail looks fine at the moment, and may not have a problem as per the present picture.
I would advise you the following:: (if you are at home and if you can).
-Apply ice to reduced hematoma and edema formation for 15 minutes.
-Most important : Elevate the legs at least 8 inches above the heart level in lying down position; this can be done by supporting the legs on a stack of pillows or rugs. This is the best way to control the edema, pain hematoma formation.
-You can certainly take anti-inflammatory medicines (considering history of GERD and Gastritis). I would recommend plain serratiopeptidase tablets as they do not cause or increase gastritis and Painkiller like Tramadol or so. You may need a prescription (I am not really sure whether you get these at your place, trying to find out)
I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to ask anything related to the problems or if you have any further queries, I would be happy to assist you.
Regards.
Most welcome !

Thanks for appreciation.
Sure, i shall be happy to get any feedback if needed.
Take care, you will be fine.
I've included the latest photo of the toe. It appears to be healing although the bruise under the nail has increased in size. However, I think the pain is a lot less.
Thankyou and regards.
This will heal completely.

Great!
All the bruise is almost gone and only remains is subungal small hematoma.
Stop worrying about it.
This will resolve on its own.
I think now there is nothing to worry about...
