Suggest Treatment For Lesions On The Brain

default
Posted on Mon, 1 Aug 2016
Question: A friend of mine apparently has lesions on the brain and spine affecting his motor areas, but MS and virtually all else similar has been ruled out. He is an civil engineer who has been immersed in water around bridges etc., and could that possibly point to metal or parasite, or paramecium contamination that could be identified by an expanded blood test; if so what test. Or, could this be some virus or something like tertiary syphilis ?

Brief Answer:
Mystery Lesions on Brain (MLB)

Detailed Answer:
Good afternoon....so sorry to hear about your friend's MLB. I would need either a scan report, or the MRI scan itself, and some more history of the problem to be able to answer your question. What took him in to the doctor in the first place and if MS has been ruled out....what else have the doctors considered to this point? The only way he would have to worry about parasitic infestations is if he got water up his nose...which certainly can happen....but I imagine he wears protective gear. I would think the doctors would be thinking in terms of those sorts of infections though anyways.

Can you get a hold of either the report or scans and upload them to this system? What do you mean that motor skills are "affected" and what has been the time course of all this?

Has a lumbar puncture or spinal tap been done. I certainly don't disagree with a panel of bloodwork but would think that something of an infectious nature could more easily be cultured and identified from his spinal fluid.

If your question was adequately responded to could you do me the favor of CLOSING THIS QUERY?

I sincerely hope you are able to get the test results and upload them as I'd be interested in seeing them.
