Suggest Treatment For Lightheadedness And Migraine Caused By Pre-menopause
Question: I have been experiencing lightheadness for nearly three years now- CT scans, MRI, Numerous blood tests all come back with nothing I have had holters, echos and other cardio tests as well nothing... Neurologist diagnosed vestibular migraines I have noticed my periods have changed and the lightheaded gets worse at exercise and or time of month I am beginning to wonder if I could be suffering with migraine caused by pre-menopause. I am not suffering any other symptoms and my tests for it come back and say not in pre menopause but I have been doing some google searchig and it says you can be in pre menopause even if blood tests say no and that you can get this sort of migrain without other symptoms problem is my GP disagrees with me just wondering your opinion and if there is something I can get in Australia over the counter to try and see if symptoms go away
Brief Answer:
Yes it can be due to migraine & pre menopause
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Yes it can be migraine and sometimes migraine does get worse with periods pr pre-menopause..
The drug of choice is sumatriptan but unfortunately i do not think there is any Over the counter drug for migraine.
What you can do is get a hormone profile of FSH, LH, and extrogen and if they are low then we can start on hormones.
Do let me know the reports.
