default
Posted on Wed, 18 Feb 2015
Question: I had an ear infection a week ago, could barely hear out of my ear but was treated with medication...drops & oral medicine. One day I sneezed and the same hear pops and the little hearing that was coming back after 5 days of mess went totally out and now I can't hear out of that ear. What happened and is my hearing gonna come back?!

Brief Answer:
seems to be ear drum perforation.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having loss of hearing.

Based on your clinical details, it appears to be Eustachian tube dysfunction or rupture of ear drum.

Post infection, sneeze pressure causing hearing loss denotes perforation in ear drum.

I suggest you to consult ent surgeon, get detailed ent examination with otoscopy (to see perforation), audiometry (to know Eustachian tube dysfunction and to measure type and degree of hearing loss). Depending on the examination finding, treatment can be started.

Meantime, stop self cleaning, avoid water per ear (cover with dry cotton plug during bath), stop consuming freezer products (curd/ice cream).

Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good healt
