Brief Answer:
Diverticulitis can be the case.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thank you for the query.
Lower left abdominal pain can be caused by diverticulitis. Due to constipation or pushing hard on stool kind of pouches appear in the large intestine wall (diverticle). If a piece of stool stucks in such pouch, inflammation appears.
As diverticle wall is thin, inflammation can result with intestine perforation.
You may have bloating with this issue.
I suggest you to consult your doctor and have abdominal ultrasound and blood work done again.
In case of inflamnation, antibiotics should be prescribed.
You should also have colonoscopy scheduled.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

Would Diverticulitis also cause rectal spasms? This happens a couple times every few months. The pinching pain & spasms don't always happen concurrently, but whenever a spasm occurs, I am useless for a few hours (only think that relives spasm is mild muscle relaxer)
Brief Answer:
Yes.
Detailed Answer:
Yes, you may feel some rectal spasms as well with diverticulitis. However uterine and bladder are close to the rectum. So any pathology in this organs can give rectal spasm as well. That is why, it is good to consult gynecologist and have urine analysis done.
