Suggest Treatment For Lump On Torso While Recovering From Shingles
Question: I've had shingles for five weeks. When it first happened, I developed a bulge on my left side. The skin over the bulge has been very sensitive due to the shingles. Even though the shingles have subsided, the area continues to be sensitive and the bulge remains. When the shingles first developed there was constipation, but that has remedied itself. There is no pain from the bulge except the sensitive skin. What action do you recommend?
Brief Answer:
It could be post herpetic neuralgia.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
As per your description, it looks like post herpetic neuralgia.
It is seen after the vesicles have subsided.
I prescribe anti-inflammatory tablet Ibuprofen 400mg twice daily after food for next 2-3 days followed by Tab Paracetamol 650mg thrice daily after food for another few days to my patients with similar complaints. It gradually comes down.
You can use anti viral medicine Acyclovir after consulting your doctor. It reduces the severity of the disease.
Nothing to worry.
Hope I answered your query.
Wish you good health.
Regards
