Suggest Treatment For Lump On Xiphosternum
i have this small lump like a small ball on my xiphoid process for a while now ,
recently my dr put me on co -irbewin 150/12.5 for high blood pressure ,after a few days i noticed that the ball is getting smaller ,any idea of what this could be ?
thanks
It could be just a benign lump like a sebaceous cyst.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX! Good afternoon. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
Although it needs a personal physical examination of the lump to have a tentative diagnosis, this seems to be a sebaceous cyst in the region of the xiphoid, which is known to be a benign lesion and could change its size due to inflammation and non inflammtory stage. However, this might not be related to the medicines for the blood pressure which should be continued until and unless advised to the contrary by your treating doctor.
If I were your doctor, for the lump on the xiphoid, I would just keep it under observation, and if need be advise for a FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) for a diagnosis. I would avoid any other more invasive procedure unless really indicated very much due to the fact that the site is not a good site for a scar to be. The invasive procedure could just be an excision biopsy of the lump for a histo pathological diagnosis.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.
Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. I wish you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
My Dr have done a full blood test ,kidney and liver test but everything was ok
could it be related to electrolyte imbalance ?
No - an electrolyte imbalance would not cause this.
