Suggest Treatment For Lumps On Side Of Leg

default
Posted on Wed, 18 Mar 2015
Question: I have two lumps in my the side of my leg, below the knee and above the ankle. They only appear when I squat down or flex my leg and they are soft when I touch them. I have had them for years now (I'm 29) and they do not cause any pain or discomfort and are not hard or noticeable when unless squatting down. What could this be and should I continue keeping an eye on it?

Brief Answer:
They look like Lipomas.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description, they look like Lipomas. I would order FNAC ( Fine Needle aspiration Cytology ) of the swelling to confirm the diagnosis. Please consult your Surgeon. He/she will know about FNAC and will help you get it done.

Lipoma in simple terms is accumulation of fat. It is a benign condition; you need not be worried about it.

Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards

Just something to keep an eye on then? Especially since they've been there for a few years and only appear when squatting down? Especially with no pain or discomfort over the years when I first noticed them?

Brief Answer:
You just observe them.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
You just observe them.
If they are enlarging in size, you can consult your doctor and proceed accordingly.
Some swellings like Lipomas will not increase in size for many years. If they are increasing in size and become painful,You can get them removed.
Hope I answered your query.
