Suggest Treatment For Migraine And Tension Headaches

Last wednesday FEB 18 I had a migraine. Since then everyday i have had a headache. I feel constant pressure throughout the day in my forehead and sometimes my temples. Is this the effects of the migraine or did it result in tension headaches. I have been able to work but it's hard for me. Please help. Thanks
Its not a migraine rather it just a headache.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Migraine is a recurrent headache associated with nausea, vomiting or photo-phobia.
Generally it occurs at only one side of head and characterized by pulsating over head and usually not relived by usual analgesics.
Few things i want to know from you like 'do you have any other symptom or was it aggravated by your daily work?
Are you having a past history of diagnosed migraine?
You are a likely to be having a tension type of headache as it is not accompanied by nausea or vomiting or other symptoms.
Every headache causes mild to severe discomfort in our day to day life.
Just take OTC analgesic which suits you and take bed rest or sleep and you will be alright.
Do not hesitate to ask follow-up question.

I have had this headache for 5 days straight. How long do tension headaches usually last? I also sit on the computer all day for work as well.
depends on triggering factor.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for follow up query.
Tension headache may last for few hours to some days depending on triggering or precipitating factor like sleep deprivation, wrong or uncomfortable posture, eye strains, stress, long working hours in one position etc.
You must take a break from your continuous work.
As I said earlier, take analgesic with muscle relaxant and antacid if gas trouble.
Taking enough of sleep will cause a good relief from symptoms.

Tension headache and not a migraine.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
As I said earlier, migraine and tension headache are different. The former is a headache accompanied by pulsating feeling in head, nausea, vomiting or photophobia, mostly not relieved by OTC analgesics( require ergotamine sumatriptan, antidepressants) and the latter is a primary or simple headache caused by some precipitating or triggering factor which will be relieved by OTC analgesics
(ibuprofen, naproxen diclofenac) and eliminating triggering factor.
In your case,if it has not relieved in-spite of taking treatment then you can see neurologist and undergo clinical examination, routine blood investigations, electroencephalogram or CT brain but only after neurologist advise.
In more than 90% cases, all of above investigations comes normal.
So,better you wait for couple of more days with medication and avoiding triggering factor otherwise consult neurologist.
Hope it is clear that how to proceed further now.
