Suggest Treatment For Mild COPD And Difficulty In Losing Weight
Question: I have Polymyalgia Reumatica for 4 years now along with mild COPD, Heart murmur, Diabetic, HS of PA, so on and so on. I am very over weight and have been taken Prednizone for over 4 years. I can't seem to lose weight. My PCP said I cannot have stomach surgery. Well, he advised against and didn't think there would be a surgeon who would perform it with my medical history. My ? To you is.... how can I lose weight without wiring my mouth?? Extra note...for the most part, I do eat healthy with lots of veggies and chicken. I was also advised to join Weight Watchers by my PCP but that is rather expensive for me living on S. S. As I am retired and I just turned 77. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you in advance.

Brief Answer:
I can suggest a restricted calorie diet.
Detailed Answer:
Hi welcome to Health care magic,
given your constraints, I can suggest a restricted calorie diet.
Eat fish/chicken/soya--with minimum oil about 80 grams for evening meal.
Eat oats for breakfast just enough to satisfy.
Rest of the day fill your stomach with salads/boiled greens/green smoothies/green tea/unsalted lemon juice/fruits.
No dairy, other cereals, juices.
You can take a potassium sparing diuretic but only with your doctor's concurrence since you are on Prednisone.
You will steadily lose weight with this diet.
Monitor your vitamins and take supplements only if needed.
You should also exercise moderately and do some weights.
Please revert back.
