Suggest Treatment For Mild Hepatomegaly And Chronic Gastritis
Question: was diagnosed with mild hepatomegaly and chronic gastritis some months back. really worried
Brief Answer:
need some investigations
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
The hepatomegaly doesn't seem to be significant. How ever I would suggest that you undergo liver function tests to see whether there is any inflammation in the liver. In case these tests are normal them you need not worry about the hepatomegaly.
The stomach mass could be a mesenchymal tumor like leiomyoma which is non cancerous. It could also be a GIST. ( gasrrointestinal stromal tumor)Please discuss these possibilities with your doctor and whether thses have been ruled out.
Hope this helps

Hi, I have provided some attachments. Please review them.
I just saw my doctor this afternoon and he wants to do a laparothomy and a query sleeve gastrectomy.
He said he does not think its cancer but he want to remove it all the same.
Do you think i should go ahead and have the surgery?
If i dont have the surgery what are the possible effects?
Can you perform the surgery and how much will it cost? (in dollars)
Also what country are you resident in?

Brief Answer:
Can go ahead with surgery
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
As the tumor is large and causing pain, surgery would be a preferred mode of treatment. I have gone through the report and it shows that we still do not have a biopsy diagnosis as the biopsy did not contain the tumour tissue. Surgery will help confirm the cause of the mass.
Possible problems if you don't undergo surgery are recurrent pain / bleeding in the mass .You should discuss all the advantages and dis advantages of the surgery before the operation with your doctor.
I do not do the surgery as I am a medical gastroenterologist and endoscopy specialist. I Reside in XXXXXXX Hence i wont be able to give you an estimate of the price in the united states. In XXXXXXX in private set up the surgery should cost should be approximately 2000 - 2500 dollars.
Hope this helps.
