Suggest Treatment For Mucosal Congestion And Irritation In Children With Sinus Infection

Question: My 14 year old has chronic sinus conjestion. We have done nasal rinses. We live in very dry area. I'm sure wether I should take him to an ENT or allergist. My husband had sinus surgery when he was 15. My son has Jac his tonsils and adenoids out. The Pediatrician didn't seem to think much when I brought up the congestion. His nose looked clear, however conjestion seems further back.

This could be due to dry climate. The dry climate could cause mucosal congestion and irritation.

I recommend the following.
1) Drink plenty of water to moisture the nasal mucosa.
2) Using humidifier inside the room.
3) Saline nasal drops to moisturize the nasal mucosa.
4) Oral decongestant like tablet levocetrizine with phenylephrine.
5) If symptoms persist consult an ENT doctor for evaluation.

He will be fine. Nothing to worry.
