Suggest Treatment For Muffled Hearing

Question: I have had what appears to be an ear infection for 2 weeks. have ear fullness, no pain, muffled hearing, and vertigo episodes occasionally. Had a head cold for a few days before it hit me. cold cleared up. only one ear affected. i find that sudafed during the day and ibuprofen PM works well at night. Hearing has improved over time but still reduced. Any suggestions on how to speed recovery along.

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Hi, If I were your treating Doctor for this case of muffled hearing with episodes of vertigo I come up with the possibility of eusthacian tube blockage due to uncontrollable sinus infection or cold.

Normally ear is connect by nose by et ( eusthacian tube) , whenever this tube blocked ( cold, flu, sinusitis, allergy) u feel ear block sensation, decreased hearing.

I suggest you consult ent surgeon, get detailed examination, otoscopy, audiometry to see any fluid behind intact ear drum.

you need antibiotics, decongestants like
levocitrizine+ pseudoephidrine and xylometazoline nasal drops under medical supervision. Do valsalva manoere ( watch youtube ) , chew chewing gum can be tried.
