Suggest Treatment For Muscle Cramps And Pain

Question: My legs seize up and go into muscles cramps every night, I'm in pain and stops me from sleeping, I get up on a morning it it takes about 15 steps to get walking properly, its worse in the summer as during day I find it very difficult to walk, in the winter it's not so bad, I have to cool my legs down every night now just to get some sleep, there is no swelling at all just pain, cramps and stiffness, I've had all blood tests including calcium and B defiency but all come back normal, i also had genetic test for spastic paraplegia, bit I haven't got that either

Hypothyroidism is commonly associated with cold intolerance and muscle spasm, the inability to tolerate cold would lead to shivering.
In addition to hypothyroidism, electrolyte imbalance (levels checked by blood tests) and excess activity can result in muscle spasms. In summers decreased fluid intake can further add to the imbalance.

In addition to the physical causes of your discomfort, it is possible for physical complaints to be worsened by anxiety or stress.

Muscular spasms can be treated by (1) treating the underlying cause (2) keeping yourself well hydrated (3) stretching the muscles involved (4) the use of anti inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen, cataflam with meals provided there are no contraindications to their use (5) a muscle relaxant may be necessary

I've had thyroid tests done and bone tests but they are all normal also, I drink plenty of water ( Upto 3 litres a day) and the more excercise I do the worse it gets, by end of day I can barely walk at all, my movements are fine it's just the getting up from sitting and walking

If the thyroid levels and other tests are normal then it can be due to a neurological issue. Hyperexcitability of nerves can also cause cramps. Consulting a neurologist will help.
