Brief Answer:
Supportive care for virus with fluids

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing a stomach virus with nausea and vomiting. The best thing to do in the early phase of the disease is to start a liquid diet. By starting on a liquid diet you will avoid becoming dehydrated. Dehydration is the most common side effect of the stomach flu. By avoiding dehydration you can lessen the severity of the virus.

The nausea and vomiting can only be controlled with medications prescribed by your doctor. If you are feeling light headed and getting dehydrated then I recommend that you be seen by your doctor. They can prescribe Phenergan which is an anti-emetic medication that will reduce the nausea and vomiting

In summary
1. increase fluids use Gatorade or other electrolyte solutions
2. If dehydrated seek medical attention
3. If intractable vomiting then seek medical attention for medication
