Suggest Treatment For Nausea, Diarrhea, Stiff Neck, Tiredness And Minor Headache

default
Posted on Thu, 4 Feb 2016
Question: I have had a stiff neck and minor headache for about two weeks. This does not seem to be related to physical activity/sleeping oddly. In the last day I have come down with nausea, diarrhea and extreme tiredness. These symptoms don't seem to me to be food poisoning. I think I have a minor fever (always cold), but don't have a working thermometer.

Any suggestions?

Brief Answer:
Possibility of meningismus, post infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
This type of neck pain stiffness may occur post infection due to meningismus. Other possibility may be meningitis which usually is associated with severe headache vomiting, fever, alteration in sensorium.
In such cases, I prefer to give pain killers with muscle relaxant. You may try ones available over the counter for a day or two and see if you get better. If it doesn't or if your symptoms worsen, please visit the ER.

Local pain reliever ointment can be used.

In case of any further deterioration or no relief get evaluated at the ER.

Hope you found the answer helpful.
